A ceremony to sign a roadmap for trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place in Astana on May 29 in the presence of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
According to statements released by the press services of the two countries, the document outlines practical steps for implementing previously reached agreements in the areas of trade and investment. The Uzbek presidential press service described the document as an Action Plan for the implementation of agreements reached in the fields of investment and trade.
The Kazakh side said the signing of the roadmap was a continuation of agreements reached during Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Uzbekistan on November 14–15, 2025. The Uzbek side, in turn, noted that the document is aimed at implementing agreements reached during meetings between the two presidents in Bukhara and Turkistan in April and May 2026.
According to the press services, the roadmap covers a broad range of areas for cooperation. Kazakhstan highlighted industry, petrochemicals, logistics, metallurgy, the agro-industrial sector, tourism and green energy. The Uzbek presidential press service also listed automotive manufacturing, energy, the chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, construction materials production, housing construction and agriculture.
The press services did not disclose any further details of the document.
