1. Who we are

Our website address is: https://yep.uz. The site is owned and operated by journalist Marina Kozlova, residing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

You can contact her by phone at +998 94 6524576 (also available on Telegram) or via email at marinakozlova@yep.uz.

2. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, you should discontinue using the website.

3. Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user-agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes publicly visible in the context of your comment.

4. Media files

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the site.

5. Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so you will not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you log into your account, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

We also set cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen preference cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and only indicates the post ID of the edited content. It expires after one day.

6. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

7. Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the website, conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

8. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For registered users, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

9. Your rights

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

10. Security of your information

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International data transfers

If you access the website from outside Uzbekistan, please be aware that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries that may not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction. By using our website, you consent to such transfers.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the “last updated” date revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
