President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has departed from Qatar to the United States.
Mirziyoyev’s stay in Qatar
The events of the working visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the State of Qatar have concluded, the presidential press service reported.
As part of the program, the head of state took part in the second World Summit on Social Development, where he proposed a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening global partnership for the implementation of sustainable and inclusive social progress and improving socio-economic development.
In Doha, Mirziyoyev held negotiations with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. At Hamad International Airport, the President of Uzbekistan was seen off by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdurahman Al Thani, and other officials.
Program of the visit to the United States
At the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, Mirziyoyev flew on a working visit to Washington, where he will participate in the summit of Central Asian countries and the United States in the «C5+1» format.
During the visit, meetings are planned between the President of Uzbekistan and Donald Trump, members of the Senate and House of Representatives of Congress, as well as heads of U.S. ministries and agencies. Key topics of discussion include strategic partnership, further expansion of Uzbek-American relations, primarily in trade, economic, investment, and humanitarian areas, as well as deepening interregional cooperation of Central Asia with the United States.
Additionally, as part of the business program, meetings will take place with leaders of leading U.S. companies and financial institutions. Following the visit, a number of bilateral and multilateral documents are expected to be signed.
In September, Donald Trump and Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
On November 3, Mirziyoyev signed a decree on a visa-free regime for U.S. citizens arriving in Uzbekistan for up to 30 days.
