Lesson 21. Uzbek digraphs sh, ch and the letter l, with audio

In this lesson we will take a closer look at the Uzbek digraphs sh, ch and the letter l, and also review the names of countries and nationalities with them.

Exercise 1. Listen and repeat the letters and words.

Note: In the Latin script of Uzbek, sh and ch are considered digraphs, essentially one letter, although they are written with two symbols. They are read as a single sound. In the Cyrillic alphabet they correspond to ш and ч, which are separate letters.

Exercise 2. Listen and repeat the sentences.

U Amerika Qoʻshma Shtatlaridan emas, u nemis.
U turkcha gapirmaydi, u arabcha gapiradi.

Exercise 3. Listen to the sentences. Say the sentences with nationalities. Then check yourself.

Exercise 4. Listen and write the words with the studied letters into the correct column of the table.
