The new 2026/2027 academic year at schools, academic lyceums and technical schools in Uzbekistan will begin on September 2, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation said.
Classes at all general education schools across the country will start on Wednesday, September 2. The academic year at academic lyceums and technical schools will also begin on the same day.
At higher education institutions, the schedule will vary by year of study. First-year students will begin classes on September 7, while second-year and senior students will start on September 14.
“This year, more than 795,000 first-graders will be ceremonially presented with the ‘President’s Gift,’ which includes 12 types of school supplies,” the Ministry of Preschool and School Education said.
The new academic year in Uzbekistan traditionally begins after the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
