President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will make an official visit to Washington next week, the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent reported late Monday evening.

“A very productive meeting with Uzbek President Mirziyoyev ahead of his visit to Washington next week! Uzbekistan is eager to invest in the U.S. and expand economic ties. The bilateral partnership is strong and only growing,” the statement reads.

President of Uzbekistan received U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, who arrived in Tashkent as part of their regional tour to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the visit is taking place from October 26 to 30, 2025, and is aimed at discussing a wide range of economic and security issues, as well as strengthening the C5+1 partnership — a dialogue platform between the United States and the countries of Central Asia.

Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, critical minerals, and energy. During the visit, the U.S. delegation held meetings with American business representatives to discuss new opportunities for joint economic growth.

During the visit to Uzbekistan, the U.S. delegation is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov. Sergio Gor and Christopher Landau visited Samarkand, where they toured the city’s historical sites and noted its role for centuries as a crossroads of ideas, trade, and innovation.

According to the U.S. side, Gor and Landau held “a productive discussion” with minister of mining industry and geology Bobir Islamov and minister of investment, industry and trade Laziz Kudratov on expanding trade and investment.

The U.S. side expressed gratitude to the Government of Uzbekistan for its hospitality, emphasizing that the visit reflects the strengthening of friendship and strategic cooperation between the United States and Uzbekistan.

According to some reports, the visit is connected with U.S. President Donald Trump’s invitation to Mirziyoyev and other Central Asian leaders to take part in the upcoming C5+1 summit in Washington on November 6. The first C5+1 presidential summit was held in New York in September 2023.

Regarding the possible meeting in Washington, the press service of the Uzbek president wrote: “The schedule of the upcoming events was also reviewed, including in the framework of “C5+1” summit, which will take place next week in Washington D.C. “
