Latest information: Resumption of the Tashkent above-ground metro circle line postponed to early November

Tashkent’s above-ground ring line “30th Anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence” is expected to resume operation around October 18, the Tashkent Metro Authority announced.

The official statement noted that preventive maintenance works are in their final stage.

“To ensure safe train operation, passenger safety, and high-quality service, trains on this line will run in a trial mode (without passengers) for a certain period,” the statement said.

If the tests are successful and positive conclusions are reached, passenger service on the line will resume “tentatively” from October 18. Additional information about the launch date will be posted on the official social media pages of the Tashkent Metro.

Recall that train service on the last section of the line — from Tekhnopark to Yangiobod — was completely suspended on August 2, 2025. All 14 stations were closed for planned preventive maintenance, conducted “based on global experience” to improve safety and service quality. The full closure was carried out in stages: since June 8, service between Turon and Qipchoq was halted, and at the end of June preventive works began at seven stations from Yangiobod to Quruvchilar.

Construction of the ring line began in 2017. The first stage of seven stations opened in September 2020, and five more stations opened in April 2023. The line now includes 14 stations and has become one of the key elements of Tashkent’s transport modernization.
