At the Kattakurgan training ground in Uzbekistan’s Central military district, large-scale military exercises have commenced involving units from the Ministries of Defense of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan.

On October 14, the opening ceremony of the Regional Joint Exercise “Birlik – 2025” was held. The exercise represents one of the largest operational drills organized by the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan within the framework of regional military cooperation.

Uzbekistan has expanded international military cooperation in recent years, signing agreements focused on knowledge exchange, joint exercises, and regional security collaboration, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense said.

According to officials, the objectives of the exercise are to strengthen mutual trust, enhance military cooperation, and develop partnerships amid growing geopolitical tensions and emerging security threats.

Participants will conduct joint combat training using modern warfare techniques, including artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, and other systems capable of long-range precision strikes. The program also includes competitions and a visit to the historic city of Samarkand to study local cultural heritage.

Additionally, Samarkand will host the first meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
