Uzbekistan Airways has warned passengers about changes to Thailand’s entry requirements for citizens of Uzbekistan starting September 15, 2026. According to the airline, Uzbek citizens will be required to obtain a visa in advance for tourist travel to Thailand from that date.
The current visa-free regime allowing stays of up to 60 days for Uzbek citizens will remain in effect through September 14, 2026. However, beginning September 15, Thailand will abolish both visa-free entry and the Visa on Arrival option for citizens of Uzbekistan.
As a result, travelers will need to secure a visa before departure for tourist visits to Thailand.
Uzbekistan Airways also drew special attention to passengers traveling on flight HY531 from Tashkent to Bangkok. The flight departs Tashkent on September 14 but arrives in Thailand on September 15, when the new rules take effect. Therefore, passengers on this flight must obtain a visa in advance.
Visa applications can be submitted before travel, including through Thailand’s official e-visa system at thaievisa.go.th. Online payment of consular fees is not available through the website. Fees must be paid in U.S. dollars at the nearest Royal Thai Consulate.
The airline advises passengers to take the new requirements into account when planning trips and purchasing airline tickets, as failure to obtain the required visa may result in denial of boarding or refusal of entry into Thailand.
According to the National Statistics Committee, 16,291 citizens of Uzbekistan visited Thailand for tourism purposes in January–April 2026. By this measure, Thailand ranked among the ten most popular foreign destinations for Uzbek citizens. Of them, 15,189 listed travel as the purpose of their trip, 996 visited relatives, 53 traveled for medical treatment, 34 for business purposes, and 19 for education.
Clarification has been issued regarding where Uzbek citizens must pay consular fees.
“After completing the application form, the applicant must make the payment at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Russian Federation in Moscow by visiting the diplomatic mission in person,” the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Bangkok said.
