Mykola Doroshenko had served in this position since 2020.

In March 2022, shortly after the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, Doroshenko gave an interview (in Russian) to Marina Kozlova for the website Yep.uz. In it, the ambassador emphasized:

“What is happening in Ukraine now? It is a war to destroy Ukrainian citizens, a war aimed at bringing the Russian world that nobody in Ukraine is waiting for.”

The interview became one of Ukraine’s first diplomatic statements addressed to a wide Uzbek audience in the early days of the invasion.
