The Agency for Information and Mass Communications (AIMC) has been abolished. Its oversight functions related to information monitoring have been transferred to the “Uzkomnazorat” Inspection under the Ministry of Digital Technologies, the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan reported.
The agency’s dissolution was first announced on July 14 by the President’s Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov. According to him, a National Content Production Center is being established on the basis of AIMC.
The Ministry of Justice clarified that the agency was abolished in accordance with Presidential Decree No. PF–111 dated July 14, 2025, titled “On measures to improve efficiency, proactivity, and effectiveness in the system of state administration.”
As part of the same reform, the Center for Mass Communications, previously under AIMC, has been transferred to the structure of the Presidential Administration. In addition, a Media Content Preparation Center is being created on the basis of the Media Center of the Press Service of the Administration.
Furthermore, under the administrative restructuring:
- The Agency for Management Efficiency has been established on the basis of the Agency for Civil Service Development,
- The Agency for Control over Narcotic Drugs and Firearms has been created on the basis of the National Center for Drug Control,
- The Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art under the Cabinet of Ministers has been transferred to the Presidential Administration.
