The average life expectancy of Uzbekistan’s permanent population reached 75.4 years in 2025. This was reported by the National Statistics Committee.

According to the agency, the indicator increased by 9 years compared to 1991. At that time, the average life expectancy was 66.4 years.

According to the statistics, life expectancy reached 69.1 years in 1995, 70.8 years in 2000, 71.8 years in 2005, 73 years in 2010, and 73.6 years in 2015. In 2020, the figure stood at 73.4 years, rising to 75.1 years in 2024 and 75.4 years in 2025.

The actual population of Uzbekistan exceeded 39 million people, according to the preliminary results of the 2026 census.

Statistics show an increase in average life expectancy in the country, but for my family the picture looks different. My great-grandmother died in 1971 at nearly 100 years of age, and my grandmother passed away in 1998 at the age of 98. My mother died in 2023 before reaching her 87th birthday. Of course, personal experience does not reflect the demographic situation as a whole, but this is what I personally observed. All of them lived and died in Tashkent.
