The official channel of the Road Safety Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan reported the introduction of a validity period for vehicle registration certificates, clarifying how the new rule will be applied amid differing interpretations circulating on social media.

According to the agency, earlier information about a supposed “restriction of the vehicle registration document” had been interpreted ambiguously. The Road Safety Service emphasized that setting validity periods for documents is not new practice: similar limits already apply to identity documents, including ID cards and passports.

According to the clarification, the vehicle registration certificate — a document confirming the existence and registration of a vehicle’s main components such as the body and engine — will now be issued with a validity period of strictly 5 years.

The agency also noted that the new procedure applies only to documents issued from April 1, 2026. Previously issued certificates will remain valid under the existing rules.
