Minister of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov and Minister of National Defense of Turkey Yaşar Güler held interdelegation talks at the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey in Ankara.
Following the meeting, the sides signed two documents: the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Training and Cooperation in the Field of Military Medicine,” and the “2026 Military Cooperation Implementation Plan between the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan.” This was reported by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.
The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, in turn, reported that during meetings in a narrow format and at the delegation level, the parties discussed issues of regional security and cooperation in the defense industry. The ministry also noted that the long-standing military and strategic relations between the two states were further strengthened by the new agreements signed in Ankara.
After the official ceremony, according to the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, Yaşar Güler said that relations with Uzbekistan in the defense sphere are reaching the level of strategic partnership. Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, in turn, emphasized that Turkey’s experience in the defense industry and military training plays an important role in modernizing the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and strengthening the country’s military potential.
According to information published by the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, the 2026 military cooperation plan provides for joint exercises, exchange of experience, advanced training of personnel, and stages of technical cooperation. The agreement in the field of military medicine includes advanced training for military doctors, study of military hospital management and military medical technologies, as well as exchange of experience and the conduct of various training programs.
