Farrux Pulatov has been appointed the new chairman of the Tax Committee. In connection with this appointment, he has been relieved of his position as director of the Cadastre Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Sherzod Kudbiyev, who previously headed the Tax Committee, has been appointed by Presidential Decree as chairman of the newly established National Committee for Sustainable Urbanization and Housing Market Development (translated). His powers in the previous position have been terminated.
The Committee for Sustainable Urbanization and Housing Market Development was created today.
Sherzod Kudbiyev headed the Tax Committee starting from August 2023. Before that, he held the post of Minister of Economy and Finance for eight months. From May 2020 to the end of 2022, he headed the State Tax Committee. Earlier, he served as presidential adviser on public service and interaction with representative bodies, Minister of Employment and Labor Relations, hokim of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district, and held other positions.
Farrux Pulatov, born in 1979, previously headed the Fergana Department of the Directorate for Combating Tax and Currency Crimes and Legalization of Criminal Proceeds under the General Prosecutor’s Office (now the Directorate for Economic Crimes). Since 2001, he worked in the prosecution system of the Fergana and Namangan regions. From July 2018 to 2022, he headed the Uzdonmahsulot company.
The appointment of the new head of the Tax Committee raises expectations of stricter compliance with legislation in the work of the agency. The author of this material was required to pay property tax for a period during which she did not own the property, which contradicts the Tax Code. In addition, despite contacting the Tax Committee, I was unable to register as self-employed due to reaching pension age. Currently, in Uzbekistan, a pensioner can register as self-employed only as a taxi driver. As a result, my tax burden is significantly higher than that of younger colleagues.
