Explosion at gas station in Kukdala District: four people killed

On July 16, at approximately 14:40, an explosion followed by a fire occurred at a gas filling station located in the “Oltindala” mahalla of Kukdala District, Kashkadarya Region.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the ignition took place in a fuel storage tank. Four fire and rescue units arrived at the scene at 14:45. The fire was contained by 15:00 and fully extinguished by 15:35.

As a result of the incident, four people lost their lives. Personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office, and other relevant agencies arrived at the site. The Ministry of Health sent a team of experienced specialists led by the Director General of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care.

📌 It is worth recalling that a similar incident occurred in Fergana in December 2024. An explosion at the Petrolium gas station claimed the lives of a woman and three children. Another nine people were injured. The court sentenced the station’s manager, Mansur Matkarimov, to five years in prison and ordered him to pay 310 million soums (approximately $25,000) for each victim.

In Fergana, the cause of the explosion was the illegal installation of equipment for the sale of propane. Gas began leaking during a refueling operation, and an explosion followed. In addition to Matkarimov, three other individuals were convicted.
