I’ve known dentist Murat Raufovich Achilov for ten years now. Throughout this time, I’ve been seeing him for dental care in Tashkent — and, I’ll admit, for dental implants as well. I don’t accept removable dentures, but at 62, it’s hard to go without fillings, crowns, and implants.
Dental implants are certainly more expensive than removable options, but they don’t need to be taken out. They stay in your mouth and quickly become a part of you. Of course, I would prefer fewer interventions in the body. That’s why I decided to ask my implantologist how, based on current knowledge and practices, one should take care of their teeth to keep them healthy for as long as possible — and what to do if that time has already passed.
Yep.uz: As a specialist, what advice would you give our readers?
Murat Achilov: In today’s reality, a person needs to see a dentist for checkups and professional cleanings twice a year — that is, every six months. Professional cleanings at this interval help maintain healthy teeth and gums. Regular checkups, in turn, allow for the early detection of cavities and other diseases, which makes it possible to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
So my advice is to follow international standards and deal with minor problems on schedule — quickly and at a relatively low cost. Oral diseases don’t stand still — they progress, and over time a person may face much more serious problems that require more time, effort, and money to treat.
Yep.uz: What area of dentistry do you and your team specialize in?
Murat Achilov: Since we live in a region where oral health discipline is generally low, we often deal with advanced cases. We perform full-mouth implantations for edentulous jaws, followed by prosthetic treatment with crowns to restore chewing function. We also work in the field of aesthetic dentistry — everyone’s favorite ceramic veneers.
