Trump invites Mirziyoyev and Tokayev to G20 summit as guests — call from the U.S. President

On December 23, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had held two telephone conversations — with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. According to the American leader, the talks were “wonderful” and focused on issues of peace, trade, and expanding cooperation between the countries.

“We discussed the importance of bringing Peace to ongoing conflicts, and increased Trade and Cooperation between our Nations,” Trump wrote.

In his message, published on the social network Truth Social, Trump emphasized that he considers U.S. relations with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan “spectacular.” The American president also stated that in 2026 the G20 Summit will be held in Miami, and both Central Asian leaders will be invited to participate as guests.

A statement from the press service of the Uzbek president about the phone call noted that Mirziyoyev invited the American leader to visit Uzbekistan “at a convenient time.”

The press service of the Kazakh president also reported on the call, mentioning a reciprocal proposal for Trump to visit Kazakhstan at a time convenient for him.

Neither the Uzbek nor the Kazakh side mentioned Trump’s proposal to attend the G20 Summit.

However, Tokayev’s press service reported that the Kazakh president “noted the complexity of resolving the Ukrainian conflict, emphasizing that territorial issue remain central and requires compromises from all sides, taking into account the real situation on the ground.”

“Therefore, Kazakhstan calls on all parties involved to demonstrate patience, flexibility, and professionalism, and to continue pursuing a peace formula,” the press service of the Kazakh president stated. “At the same time, Kazakhstan does not seek to act as a mediator but remains ready, if necessary, to offer a venue for negotiations in a spirit of goodwill.”
