In Uzbekistan, control over restricting advertising of gambling and other risk-based games has been strengthened. According to the Competition Committee, constant monitoring is being conducted of web resources that promote gambling and betting services.
The Committee has established cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure a prompt response to violations in the advertising sphere. As part of this cooperation, a mechanism is being applied to restrict access to websites that publish advertising for betting services.
“As part of this work, measures are being taken to restrict (block) access to websites that promote advertising for betting services,” the committee reported.
According to the Competition Committee, information on 86 websites promoting betting services was submitted to the supervisory authority during the current year. About 70 of them were blocked in accordance with the established procedure.
Article 46 of Uzbekistan’s Law “On Advertising” prohibits advertising of gambling and other games based on risk. The Committee stated that monitoring in this area will continue on a systematic basis.
