More than 100 enterprises polluting the atmosphere suspended in Tashkent and the region

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan announced on Thursday the temporary suspension of 106 business entities in Tashkent and the Tashkent region. In addition, 58 greenhouse farms have been fined for violating environmental regulations.

The measures were taken as part of the implementation of Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 59 of February 8, 2025, aimed at reducing smoke, dust, and toxic gas emissions from industrial, social, and agricultural facilities.

Together with the General Prosecutor’s Office and the administrations (hokimiyats) of Tashkent and the region, the ministry formed working groups comprising more than 300 specialists. They carried out a full inventory of 4,869 facilities, including 595 greenhouses (381 in the region and 214 in the capital), 2,265 social institutions, and 1,998 industrial and construction material enterprises.

During inspections, numerous violations of air protection legislation were identified, including emissions of harmful chemical and physical substances into the atmosphere. Each case has been met with enforcement measures.

According to the ministry, owners of 58 greenhouse farms were fined for improper operation of smoke exhaust systems, the activities of 106 business entities were temporarily suspended, and 387 were issued official warnings. Violators were instructed to stop using polyethylene film, car tires, and plant residues as fuel.

The Ministry of Ecology emphasized that control and monitoring activities will continue on a systematic basis.
