In the Sergeli district of Tashkent, a 34-year-old woman inflicted stab wounds on her seven-year-old daughter, who died at the scene. According to the Millar program on the Milliy TV channel, the tragedy occurred three and a half years after the incident at the Tashkent Zoo, when the same woman threw the girl into a bear enclosure.
It was reported that during the summer the woman underwent treatment in a psychiatric hospital, after which she was placed under outpatient observation. She was registered at the city psychoneurological dispensary No. 2. In the mahalla where the family lived, her condition after treatment had been assessed as stable, and preventive conversations were held with her. The woman also has a son.
According to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, a criminal case has been opened under Article 97 of the Criminal Code (premeditated murder), and the suspect has been detained.
The zoo incident occurred on January 28, 2022. At that time, in front of visitors, the woman threw her daughter over the fence into the enclosure of a Caucasian brown bear named Zuzu. The child fell from a height of nearly five meters. The bear approached the girl, sniffed her, and walked away. The zoo staff quickly led the animal into an inner area, after which the girl was rescued from the enclosure. She was injured from the fall but was not attacked by the predator.
The zoo later described the incident as shocking and noted the calm behavior of Zuzu, attributing it to the long-term careful treatment of the animal by the staff. The bear had been brought to Tashkent from the Baku Zoo in 2017 and was considered sociable and calm from the start.
In 2022, a criminal case was opened against the mother under Article 97, Part 2, Paragraph “v” of the Criminal Code through Article 25 (attempted premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances), but further details of the proceedings were not disclosed.
The current crime ended in tragedy — the girl’s life was cut short at the age of seven.
