Uzbekistan’s President has signed a decree reorganizing the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation into a single Ministry of Education and Science.
Presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov announced the decision.
“The goals of this reform are to organize a unified system of education, upbringing and science in the country based on modern requirements, raise efforts to improve the quality and effectiveness of education to a new level, and develop human capital,” Asadov wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Asadov, the reform provides for greater integration and continuity among all types and levels of education, as well as the introduction of a unified and effective management system covering all stages from preschool to higher education, along with scientific activity.
The new system is also intended to increase the accountability of the education sector to the public.
