The letters of the Uzbek alphabet u, y, я, ё, ю (Latin and Cyrillic) and words with them are the topic of our lesson today. What Latin letters are used to write я, ё, ю and what Cyrillic letters used to denote u and y. In the new lesson, as in others, there is audio from native Uzbek speakers.
As usual, part of the lesson from my Uzbek language tutorial is available to everyone, and part is available to site donors. Also, only donors (it’s not expensive — from $3 per month) have access to the answers to the exercises from the previous lesson. So become those who support the site — the benefits are mutual.
Note that in the Cyrillic Uzbek alphabet there were 4 iotized letters — е, ё, ю, я. Today, in the Latin alphabet, they are expressed by combinations of letters ye, yo, yu, ya. This is what it looked like before:
й + э = е (ye)
й + о = ё (yo)
й + у = ю (yu)
й + а = я (ya)
We will go over the letters e (ye) and э (e) later.
